Woodland nursery love

This Friday I thought I’d take you on a little tour of Edie’s room. Decorating nurseries and kids’ rooms has become one of my favorite pastimes. When I first found out I was pregnant, I became obsessed with a woodland theme nursery. This was almost 2 years ago, and I still LOVE it.

Once I found out I was having a girl, I went overboard on Pinterest for inspiration and set to work. I don’t like the idea of spending a ton of money on a nursery simply because they grow out of it so quickly, so I stuck to a budget and found some deals. When we moved, I kept most of the main elements the same, but changed the set up. I hope you enjoy this peek into Edie’s room.

The fox print was a handmade gift from my sister-in-law. The squirrel prints were gifts from my mother-in-law. My husband painted the deer. The large bird nest print is from Etsy. It is especially meaningful because the words from the dictionary page have to do with jays (the bird) and which is also a family name.

As I was going Pinterest crazy, I fell in love with the idea of vintage porcelain deer just like this one. One day my mother-in-law showed up and said she found this one at a thrift shop for a couple dollars! God really fulfilled this little desire in my heart. He knows and cares about even the smallest things.

These birds were a handmade gift from my mother-in-law and her sister. I treasure the hours they spent making them as well as the care and attention that went into the fabric choice for each one.

I used an old quilt to cover the changing pad and used embroidery hoops to display fun fabrics.

I stuck a dresser inside the closet and put a few girlie books on top of it.

Probably my best find - a $30 rocking chair off Craigslist. It is so comfortable and clean. The pillow is handmade as well as the quilt.

All in all, I think the nursery cost around $200 total for me to furnish and decorate. A lot of the items were gifts as well as finds from thrift shops, IKEA, Craigslist, and stuff I already had. Decorating a room doesn’t always need to break the bank!
