And it was all yellow: bedroom love

A few years ago, I listened to a message for married couples about the importance of having a really nice and romantic bedroom. The speaker argued that if we valued our marriage we should invest in our bedroom – a space set aside for one another.

When we moved, I felt super inspired to experiment with a fresh room and thought I’d share the results! We bought a new bed after 10 years of marriage as well as a dresser that wasn’t a hand-me-down or secondhand. I also bought new curtains. The rest of the room is filled with repurposed stuff from other spaces in our old house.

The painting above the bed was a poster Josh bought from an art museum. We had been using the frame for something else, but once we cut the painting out of the white poster it fit perfectly in the space! I am in love with this painting, Sheaves of Wheat by Van Gogh.

The one thing I love about painting our bedroom white and having yellow curtains is the vast variety of light and color that comes into the room depending on the time of day and placement of the sun. This was taken early evening.

This ray of sun is early morning light. I love how crisp and bright it is.
This ray of sun is early morning light. I love how crisp and bright it is. I bought the painting pictured here from a thrift shop for $2. It’s an original painting and I fell in love with it as well as the frame! Gold against white is my jam these days.
Major props to my mother in law for giving us this dresser that she purchased and painted! I am still debating whether I should paint the mirror white or not. It's been an on-going dilemma for the last 3 months. Thoughts, anyone?

I had to do a close-up of these treasures! I was given the little bowl with my name on it as well as the china saucer. Pretty little things make me so happy!

We bought this gold-yellow chair 6 years ago for $50. I have loved it every second we've owned it. My sister painted the middle image and my husband painted the two yellow roses. I love having artists in the family!

I love having artists in the family! The sunlight here is late afternoon and in full force. I love its beams shining through!

Happy Thursday, everyone!
